Jean Dusart is a policy officer of the European Commission. Beginning of this year, he joined the Environmental Observations Sector of the Directorate-General Research & Innovation, focusing his activities on the EuroGEO initiative, the European contribution to the Group on Earth Observation (GEO). Previously he spent 15 years at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra (Italy) as scientific project officer. He was in charge of various projects around the use of geospatial technologies, supporting the INSPIRE Directive, or collaborating with stakeholders on the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region. More recently he led the JRC activities on the use of citizen science for policy-making. Before joining the European Commission, Jean holds several positions in both the academic area (Catholic University of Louvain and University of Copenhagen) and the private sector where he was a sales manager for 5 years with ESRI. Jean graduated as a geographer from the Catholic University of Louvain and specialised in remote sensing, cartography and photogrammetry.
