Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

Maria Lundqvist is a Finance Advisor at the Innovation Finance Advisory (IFA) at the European Investment Bank (EIB), where she is a part of a specialised team helping to improve bankability of innovative projects, and to provide market intelligence in horizontal strategic studies related to access-to-finance challenges in RDI sectors.
Maria’s area of expertise is within innovation and the digital economy, with a particular focus on deep tech; AI, quantum, HPC, cybersecurity, etc.; and space technologies – with a cross-cutting focus on climate and sustainability.
From 2016 to very recently (Aug 2020), she worked as an Economist at the EIB’s Project Directorate, being responsible for the due diligence of innovative companies within a wide range of technologically advanced sectors, assessing the financial, economic, technical and environmental viability of investment projects and programmes. Prior to that, she worked as an Economist at the Bank’s Economics Department, focusing on innovation policy and strategy. Before joining the EIB, she worked as a Business Analyst in Switzerland.

Maria holds a Master degree in Economics from Lund University, Sweden. Outside of work, she loves the mountains, sports in general and bikram yoga in particular. Travels and adventures are (normally) a big part of her life.
